Galerie Denise René presents "Focus Bardula" from 17 January to 18 February 2024.
A digital exhibition to be discovered on Artsy, its website (www.deniserene.fr) and in video format on Vimeo.
"Bardula is a Franco-Belgian artist duo influenced by constructed art, Bauhaus and concrete art. They create sculptures and light reliefs in their studio in the south of Paris.
The artists explore the relationship between art and science, drawing on mathematics, geometry and new technologies to create their works, including 3D modelling, lasers and LEDs.
Bardula works with simple or sometimes more complex geometric shapes, based on scientific concepts such as fractals, vortices, molecules and the Fibonacci sequence.
Their work leaves no room for chance and their process is scientifically precise, guided by the relationship between volume and perspective, form and movement, colour and light.
In our online focus, the relief disturbs the viewer's vision. The geometric shapes seem to emerge from the flat surface. Moving in front of these works causes a change in perspective, revealing a greater illusion of depth. These fixed shapes, multiplied and superimposed, create an imbalance and optical phenomena such as vibration and moiré. These effects are amplified by the use of colour and light, which in Bardula's work becomes a medium in its own way. The chromatic ranges are meticulously chosen and programmed to evolve over time. These reliefs are brought to life by the light, giving them enhanced power."

For this first Focus of the year 2024, galerie denise rené invites you to discover 9 of our luminous artworks it has selected. This solo show is an opportunity for galerie denise rené to offer a new format: a virtual visit through the exhibition in the form of a video.
Galerie denise rené has remained dedicated to its artistic line from the very beginning and is today a reference point for geometric abstraction, concrete art and kinetic art.
In collaboration with the gallery, we have designed and produced this Focus in a new format: 3D video. This virtual and immersive exhibition takes place in the Espace Marais, at 22 rue Charlot, the address occupied by the gallery for 32 years.
The works chosen by the gallery for this solo show are exhibited in this space, which has been modelled in realistic 3D detail. Modelling a real space, and presenting an exhibition of real but modelled works, is part of our creative process. We regularly use this tool in the research and conception of our works. Characters are present to accentuate immersion; the director Denis Kilian, his collaborator and the Bardula duo are modelled in the form of 3D avatars.
