TIMELESS KINETIC ART
ZERO was a new beginning, the zero hour.
« We all wanted that something new would emerge. Not only in the material sense, but also in the spiritual sense ... We had an intellectual vacuum after the war, there was a great emptiness. And at some point, we realized that life had to start all over again as simply as possible. » (Heinz Mack)
By the end of 1966, around 55 ZERO exhibitions had taken place in Europe and the USA, in which around 130 artists took part. However, ZERO was not intended to be a fixed circle of artists, but rather an artistic kinetic movement in the sense of a change that would serve as a basis, a zero and starting point for a new sensitization of the environment.
To this day kinetic artists from all over the world present the basic ideological values of the ZERO movement. What they all have in common is the desire to experiment with colour, structure, materials, surface, space, sound and movement. And again and again: light!
